Weekly Prayers
From time to time, we
will post weekly prayers of our pastors here. If you have a favorite
prayer you
would like to see here, please contact the Pastor and let him know, so
that we might include it. Below you will find a collection of
prayers from our Pastor, Chris Curvin.
Mind Your Wake
April 15, 2008
|
Loving Father, you sent Christ to show us of your love and forgiveness.
Remind us that your call us to be responsible for our actions and words and to
love others as ourselves. When we recall the story of the Prodigal Son who returned
from the far country and was forgiven by his father, remind us that there were no doubt
consequences and dangerous waves caused by the son’s behavior and spending spree.
We imagine the son’s behavior caused pain in his family, enmity with his older brother,
and had an evil influence on his friends. Remind us that although we are forgiven people,
no amount of forgiveness can evade the consequences of negative acts. There is a ripple effect
of all that we do -- good and bad.
So grant that every word we speak may be fitting for You to hear; that every deed we do may be
fit for You to see. Help us to be careful how we live and to never forget that someone is following
in our wake. May we finish this day with nothing badly done; and nothing to regret and nothing to
make us ashamed, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Prayer to Imagine an Even Brighter Tomorrow
March 25, 2008
|
Wonderful God, you sent Christ to assure us that new beginnings are possible, help us both as
individuals and as a congregation to take from the past its fires and reach forth in the knowledge
that we may find new purpose when we follow the Resurrected Christ. We pray for a new outbreak of
Your power in our lives. Grant us a stronger desire to have the grace and love of Christ work
through us more effectively.
As we prepare to gather for worship this week make us aware that we need each other. Help us today
to imagine just what might happen if we all pray together about the same vision.
We pray even now for those who are facing problems, for those who are tired and in despair about
tomorrow or health and yet who must go on to face responsibilities and another day.
We pray for those whose life may be terminal, and who either accept such a verdict or do not
accept it. We support them in their decision to fight the good fight and pray your Spirit of Love
will walk with them, comfort them, and give them courage, hope and bring healing.
Finally, we pray for our world, O God, in its joys and difficulties. Keep us in fellowship with
the man from Galilee, in whose companionship we find strength and through his resurrection there
is new life and a bright tomorrow awaiting those who believe in Him.
Amen.
